AMD clipping software starts with something you already have: Instant Replay in AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition, which keeps a rolling buffer and saves it on a hotkey. OBS runs on a Radeon too. The gap on AMD is the second job, cutting a long recording into postable clips, and most of the tools that do it either run in a browser or, like ours, were built around an NVIDIA card. 01 · Capture

Clipping on AMD: the buffer is already installed.

AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition ships with Instant Replay, and it is the same idea as the NVIDIA feature of the same name. Open the overlay with Alt+R, go to the Record & Stream tab, switch Instant Replay on, and set how far back a save reaches. The default save key is Ctrl+Shift+S, Ctrl+Shift+R starts a full recording, and the files land in a folder under Videos. The encode runs on the card's media block, so the cost to your frame rate is small. Nothing about capture on AMD needs a purchase.

The second job is where AMD gets thin.

Capture saves the moment you noticed. Cutting is the other job: taking a long recording and deciding which minute is worth posting, reframing it to 9:16 and adding captions. Most tools that do this were built in one of two ways, and neither was built around a Radeon.

Does CutBench run on AMD? Yes, slowly, and below spec.

The supported requirement is an NVIDIA GPU with 6 GB of VRAM and CUDA. That is what the listing says and what we test against. On a Radeon there is no CUDA, so the app does not use the graphics card at all: the whole analysis falls back to the processor. It does not refuse to run, and it does not crash. It finishes. It just takes several times longer than it would on the NVIDIA card it was built for.

Put numbers on it. On an RTX 3060 class card a 3-hour session takes roughly 2 to 5 hours. On an AMD system the same session runs on the CPU and you should plan for it to take a multiple of that, an overnight run rather than an afternoon one, with the exact figure depending on how many cores you have. A large backlog of recordings can take days to work through. One buyer on a Radeon laptop ran it for twelve hours, saw a fraction of a very large queue, and left a negative review. They were right to be annoyed, because nothing had told them this before they paid. This page is that warning.

What you get at the end is the same output as on NVIDIA: ranked vertical clips with captions, nothing uploaded, no subscription. So the honest advice is narrower than "yes" or "no". If you have a fast processor, a small number of sessions, and you are happy to start it at night and read the list in the morning, it works. If you have a weak CPU or a large backlog, it will feel broken, and a browser tool is the better buy.

What is the best clipping software for AMD?

For capture, the Instant Replay already in AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition, or OBS Studio with the AMD encoder. Both are free and encode on the card. For cutting long recordings into postable clips, browser tools such as Eklipse and Opus Clip run on their servers and do not care what GPU you have.

How do I clip on an AMD GPU?

Open the Adrenalin overlay with Alt+R, switch Instant Replay on in the Record and Stream tab, set the duration, and press Ctrl+Shift+S after the moment. The file lands in a folder under Videos. Ctrl+Shift+R records a full session instead.

Does CutBench work on AMD?

Is there a local clipping tool that uses the AMD GPU for analysis?

Not among the tools still on sale that we compare. Powder ran its analysis locally and had a build tuned for AMD hardware, and it shut down in 2025. The surviving local moment-finding tools, ours included, were written against NVIDIA's compute stack. AMD's card is used for encoding by every capture tool here, but not for the analysis step of any cutting tool we know of.

Does OBS work with AMD for clipping?

Yes. OBS Studio supports the AMD encoder for H.264 and HEVC, and AV1 on RDNA 3 cards. Enable Replay Buffer under Settings, Output, set a Save Replay hotkey under Hotkeys, and start the buffer each session.
